Mortgage Loan Underwriter
Location: Local Office or Remote Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Mortgage Loan Underwriter to join a dynamic and fast-growing national lending team. In this role, you will evaluate borrower financial and credit information, along with property valuations, to support informed lending decisions. You'll work closely with the production team to ensure smooth loan closings.

Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and decision agency-conforming, Jumbo, FHA/VA residential mortgage loans.
- Verify and analyze borrower financial documentation to ensure compliance and completeness.
- Review appraisal reports, identify any discrepancies, and resolve issues.
- Perform in-depth analysis of applicant income, expenses, assets, credit reports, and property valuations to determine loan eligibility.
- Calculate qualifying ratios (DTI, LTV, etc.) and assess creditworthiness.
- Provide clear risk opinions and offer recommendations based on your findings.
- Prepare comprehensive findings reports and communicate them effectively to relevant parties.
- Manage multiple loan files efficiently and ensure timely processing.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of underwriting experience, including VA, FHA, Conventional, and Jumbo loans.
- Experience with FNMA, FHLMC, and Non-Conforming mortgages is highly preferred.
- Proficient in using Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector/Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA).
- Strong understanding of the mortgage lending process.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform key loan calculations (DTI, LTV, etc.).
- Ability to prepare detailed findings reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in team environments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
