In the Tax Research Division, your mission will be to contribute to the development of sound tax policy through high-quality research, objective and timely analysis, and clear communication. As a Research Analyst Intermediate, you will be at the forefront of analyzing tax policy changes and their fiscal impacts, playing a critical role in shaping the direction of state tax and budget issues.
You will use your research and analytical skills to gather and process information from diverse sources, including department data, tax law, and tax models. You’ll work both independently and in small teams, producing technical reports, developing revenue estimates, and assessing the broader fiscal impact of proposed tax changes.
Your work will involve creating and maintaining databases, running tax models, and conducting studies that inform revenue projections and budget decisions. You'll develop specialized knowledge in specific areas of tax law and administration, with opportunities to expand your expertise based on your interests.

This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota. Telework eligibility is based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion. Commuting to the St. Paul office location for occasional in-person meetings is expected.
One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working with taxes or conducting research or quantitative analysis work.
OR
Three (3) years of experience providing administrative support duties working with taxes or conducting research or quantitative analysis work.
